First this kind of irks me that they already have the poor little kid's professional life all planned out for her to take over from her father (she's only 8), but is that an AG doll Bindi Irwin is carrying?

I don't think it is- the face looks too big and the hair too full.

I don't think the "idea" irks me. The girl is getting some incredible life experience- and I'm sure if she told her parents she wasn't interested she could do other things- I see it more like Jess getting to go to archealogy (which I spelled wrong) digs with her parents, and after experiencing all that for your whole life, if you enjoy doing it with your family, how would you NOT want to do it?

I believe I read somewhere that she already had her own show in the works with Animal Planet and it was suppose to start airing in January. And all that was before her dad died. I'm sure it will become even more important to her now that her dad has died, or not maybe she may blame it for her dads death.

I wish them all the best.

They are an interesting family. My heart just goes out to the children. Little Bob is the same age as my son.

My first thought was that it was a My Twinn doll.

Aww she is so cute! I think that she really does love animals. I have seen her with him before, I think it was on Animal Planet. It is just so terrible she lsot her father especially one that loved her.

This is going to make her sound weird, but it's a doll of Terri Irwin. I know they had them a few years back. Here's a link. They were quite ugly, and didn't look much like Terri. But that's definitely what it is.

I believe I read somewhere that she already had her own show in the works with Animal Planet and it was suppose to start airing in January. And all that was before her dad died.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I read that that was what Steve was actually filming footage for. Apparently he was supposed to be filming footage for his own special, but it was too stormy, so they decided to just get some clips of the sting rays for use on his daughter's show.

From the article, it looks like they've been "training" her since she was born. I don't find that at all hard to believe, or as something mean/bad parenty. Any kid growing up around animals 24/7 is going to love them, I'd think it'd be just their guess that she would want to follow in his footsteps (though probably not so soon), and were just helping the love of animals along, so she'd be more prepared when she did "take over." Many families do that with the Family Business, and it doesn't sound, from the article, like they're going to shove her out with the crocs on her own anytime soon. Just letting people know that his awareness and conservation plans will be carried on.

All I can say is that the Irwin family has a very different life style than most families!

Odd about the doll being an image of Bindi's own
mother. I wonder what psychological impact if any that would produce on a child.

Thanks,Laurie, for the article. Very interesting!

They are definately an interesting family. I hope that the media and everyone leaves them alone. Those children need to figure out their own paths in life. If they would like to go into "the family business" so be it. But that family doesn't need the press constantly following them around. Steve and Terri might have chosen a public life, but those kids did not.

Bindi is a real cutie! I saw her on a rerun or special after Steve had died. It was older footage when she was being asked about whether she was happy she was having a baby brother, apparently before the baby was born but after an ultrasound. I loved her little accent when she said something to the effect that she would have liked a sister but a brother would be ok too.
